Cold Chisel Live Review - Cairns

Without a doubt Cold Chisel and their songs are part of the fabric of this nation, the words mainly of Don Walker resonate with people and Jimmy Barnes larrikin approach to lead singer epitomises the “Australian Way” even though he was born in Scotland.

Last Time Cold Chisel Came to Cairns they played under the big top at the showgrounds on a wet and humid evening, this time around it was in the more genteel environs of the Cairns Convention Centre, an excellent venue and one that we hope gets more use as the word gets out and hopefully bigger shows by international artists head to Cairns.

The venue wasn’t the only difference for this show, this was an electrified amped up, pumped up performance all the way through, there was no quiet moments of telling tales about how the songs came about or a cosy semi acoustic session so everyone could catch their breath.

Cold Chisel put on an old fashioned rock n roll show from start to finish drawing on material from across their careers…..if you didn’t leave this show happy after them playing for more than 2 hours and belting out more than twenty tunes you just weren’t paying attention.
